Elder Abuse Awareness Session for Seniors by TRANS SAFE Centre

To foster greater awareness of elder abuse within the community, TRANS SAFE Centre conducted a free one-hour interactive session in Mandarin for 14 seniors from Goodlife Studio (Bedok) on 4 Nov 2025.

The session covered these key topics:
Understanding what elder abuse is and why it matters to our community
Recognising common warning signs
How to support friends or neighbours who may be facing difficulties
Where to seek help and the national resources available
Through open conversations and shared learning, participants were reminded of the importance of staying connected, recognising when someone may need help, and knowing that support is available within the community.

By strengthening awareness and encouraging mutual care, the session aimed to build a safer, more supportive community of seniors who feel informed, confident, and supported.

What Does Success Truly Mean? Reflections from a Parenting Webinar

On 1 November 2025, TRANS FSC (Bukit Timah)’s Parenting Webinar brought together parents from diverse backgrounds for an online conversation that challenged one key question: “What does success truly mean for our children?”

In today’s fast-paced world, many parents grapple with balancing academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth. The session encouraged parents to pause and reflect on the broader meaning of success beyond grades, trophies, or milestones.

Through sharing and interactive discussions, participants explored how success can be redefined as a journey of resilience, curiosity, and self-discovery. Parents were also guided to consider how nurturing emotional intelligence, empathy, and confidence can empower children to thrive in their own unique ways.

The webinar was a poignant reminder on how every child’s path is different, and that success doesn’t come with comparison, but with connection — between parents and children, and between who they are and who they can become.

Empowering Professionals on Trauma-Informed Care

TRANS Family Services recently conducted a two-part webinar series on Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) on 3 and 24 October 2025, exploring how its principles can be applied when supporting persons with intellectual disabilities.

The sessions brought together around 100 allied professionals from MINDS including psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists fostering shared learning and collaboration in providing trauma-informed support.

Seniors’ Life Story Group (Mandarin) at TRANS FSC (Bedok Reservoir)

From 22 August to 3 October 2025, 6 seniors came together for the first run of a guided autobiography groupwork in Mandarin. This groupwork adapted elements from James Birren’s Telling the Stories of Life through Guided Autobiography Groups and built upon a similar programme conducted in English in 2024.

Over the weekly sessions, participants engaged in a mix of large- and small-group activities and heartfelt discussions on themes such as family relationships, the meaning of money, major life roles, and what makes a “good death.”

The group provided a warm and supportive space for seniors to reflect on their life journeys celebrating their transitions, challenges, strengths, and resources while building meaningful connections and mutual encouragement along the way.

Project R.I.C.E.+ 2025

For the past few years, our Family Service Centres in Bedok and Bedok Reservoir have been privileged to collaborate with Singapore Red Cross (SRC) on Project R.I.C.E.+; an annual flagship initiative with Sheng Siong supermarket which provides household necessities to low-income families, elderly individuals living alone, and residents facing financial difficulties. Ration packs include essential food and necessities, providing immediate relief for families’ daily needs and reassuring them that the community cares for their well-being.

This year, the distribution drives took place on 28 June 2025 at TRANS FSC (Bedok Reservoir) and 16 August 2025 at TRANS FSC (Bedok), with over 970 sets of rations distributed to 156 families in total. Volunteers from TRANS Family Services and SRC worked together to ensure smooth and efficient distribution.

We would like to extend our gratitude to SRC and Sheng Siong supermarket for the yearly partnership.
