CNY Lo-Hei and Intergenerational Crafts at Bedok

In celebration of Chinese New Year, our 37 Happy Healthy Hour (H3) seniors welcomed 47 Kindergarten 2 (K2) students from MOE Kindergarten @ Fengshan Primary School for an intergenerational craft activity.

In pairs, the seniors and children worked hand-in-hand to decorate the Chinese character “福” (fortune) using crepe paper and glue. Seniors had the opportunity to guide and interact with the children while engaging their fine motor skills, and the children explored their creativity and practised expressing their ideas with confidence. As they discussed colours and designs, the room quickly filled with laughter and conversation.

The session created a heartwarming opportunity for both generations to connect and celebrate the festive season together.

It was a Sunday wafting with the aroma of coffee for youth clients from Bedok and Bedok Reservoir FSCs! With the support of the EtonHouse Community Fund, they were engaged in a workshop at the EtonHouse Garden By the Bay where they learnt the history of coffee, basic coffee-brewing operations, as well as the sustainability of the coffee industry. This opportunity also led them to discover their interest in this area and sparked the possibility of barista work as a career pathway. Following the workshop, the 32 youths and their families were treated to a visit to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. It was a day well-spent as they were given the chance to appreciate nature and bond with their families.
