Building Skills for Working with High-Conflict Couples

On Monday, 20 July 2026, TRANS Family Services held its second training on Working with High Conflict Couples, following up on the first session conducted on 28 April 2025.

The session shifted focus from the first session’s theoretical grounding in systemic frameworks and key considerations for working with couples in high-conflict situations, to hands-on skills training. A total of 25 practitioners took part.

The training centred on the theme of Therapeutic Conversation with Couples vs Fighting Fires, with the intent of helping practitioners bridge and connect couples toward mutual understanding and action, even in high-tension situations.

Practitioners explored how to understand what’s at stake behind a couple’s complaints, and identify and disrupt negative repetitive cycles in their interaction patterns.

Building on the foundational framework from 2025, the second training equipped practitioners with concrete tools to navigate high-conflict conversations with greater confidence.
